The Body IS Connected!

For all of you parents reading this, you'll probably agree that teething does in fact affect the ears, nose and throat. And for all of the medical personnel that disagrees...bologna. Rylee was sent home from daycare yesterday with a temp of 102*. Jamie picked her up and brought her over to get adjusted. Steph checked her out and she had fluid in her left ear. Rylee got adjusted and by the time we drove back to Lake Park, her fever was already down to 99*! She took a long nap and after waking up I noticed that her fever was back...but in a strange way. Her left ear was 101.5* and her right ear was 99.2*. Her left check was really red and the right, not so much. And, when feeling her face and neck, her left side was considerably warmer. So, I investigated her mouth....any guesses what I found? Yes...teeth. Not 1 but 2. She broke through a top left molar and bottom left molar.

So, knowing my nervous system from Palmer, the cranial nerves that go to the teeth go right past the ear, to the brainstem which extends from the base of the brain all the way down to C4. (cervical vertebrae in the middle of your neck). Is it all starting to come together? Yes, the body IS all connected and Rylee is proof that teething can affect other systems of the body. When one area of the body is inflamed, others around it are affected to.

As a result of Rylee's temp, I got to spend my afternoon with her yesterday and have the day off today, so we'll get plenty of good quality time together. If this keeps up I'm gonna want to stay home with her every day!
